Every late summer the clocks turn back 600 years in the small medieval Tuscan village of Montisi. Every street takes on a carnival atmosphere and live jousting takes place on the village green, horses lances and throngs of locals in period costume. Loud drumming into the night, as the narrow cobbles rattle with wild party goers, “saluti per tutti”.
The drawing which started as a fast action perspective sketch as the moon rises, embarked on a journey of plateaux, time frames where the artist rested and reconsidered which moment would be the truism. Frenetic stages of evolution from pencil drawing to pastel, are captured and concealed.
