MAUI RUNNER Carpet

Created in 1994 the design Maui was one of the designs that gave birth to the David shaw Nicholls Rug Company in New York City.

The carpet industry at that time can best be described as traditional and homogeneous. Excellent quality at the top controlled by conservative marketing to an established sense of comfort within historical patterns. The rhetoric was stable and classic.

The Maui design to its very core changed that, with its geometric scroll of delicacy, captured within a simple boxed grid. The strident circles bisect in shifting tones, to form a harmonious architecture. The design is reassuring, yet classic for both evolved tastes and up-to-date interior simplicity. The Tibetan carpet making process brought craftsmanship and value, rendering the work timeless.
