David Shaw Nicholls Rug Company was born in 1980 in New York City where he recognized an opportunity for new and original rug patterns and processes which foster a transitional lifestyle. Conventional methods for rug making were questioned and re-valued. His new designs took off and very soon he found himself at the helm of a company which could influence an entire generation of global designers anxious to offer their individual version of innovation starting with the floor, very often the most influential design element. DSN had found a vehicle for his frenetic energy, and his architect’s eye for scale and proportion extolled the virtues of a grand design impact. Sometimes the setting became alive when a rug was laid, other times the rug quietly and softly soothed the interior experience. connecting the individual furniture elements seamlessly. David Shaw Nicholls “DSN” colour palette is uniquely tuned and calibrated to each factory in pure, hand carded and twisted Nepalese wool and silk. Today we have over 80 individual DSN designs herby presented from the finest hand weave floor textile to a sumptuous rich textural construction all extolling the beauty of the truthful hand, pleasing the eye and soothing underfoot.
